During the 2024 Year-End Review on Channels Television, the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, emphasized the importance of this move. “For nearly 30 years, a generation has been disconnected from the rich history of Nigeria. This gap is unacceptable and has no place in the world,” he said.

Alausa further revealed that President Tinubu acknowledged the critical need to restore Nigerian history in schools to bridge the generational divide. As part of the new curriculum, students in primary schools, Junior Secondary Schools (JSS), and secondary schools will once again study the nation’s history as part of their educational journey.

This move is expected to reignite a sense of national identity and pride among Nigerian students, giving them a deeper understanding of their heritage and history.
