LP National Chairman, Abure Faces More Woes As Members Chant “Abure Must Go” In Viral Video Following His Suspension

The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Barrister Julius Abure, is facing escalating challenges as a viral video captures party members in Ward 3, Arue-Uromi, Esan North-East local government area of Edo State, chanting “Abure Must Go.” This follows his suspension due to allegations of high-handedness and anti-party activities.
A suspension letter dated May 14, 2024, and a ratification letter dated May 15, 2024, both approved at a state executive committee meeting in Benin, declare the suspension effective immediately. The letter instructs Abure to refrain from presenting himself as a member of Labour Party, Ward 3, Arue, Uromi, in Esan North-East LGA, Edo State.
The suspension letter was signed by Ward Chairman Thompson Ehiguese and Ward Secretary Stanley Usiomoh. The ratification letter was sent to the State Executive Committee through the State Chairman by the Local Government Chairman of Esan North-East, Patrick Onogbeni, and LGA Secretary Ehikioya Eromosele.
The viral video shows party members voicing strong opposition to Abure’s leadership, citing issues such as multi-billion naira corruption, nepotism, and anti-party activities. This public display of dissent underscores the mounting pressure on Abure as his leadership is increasingly questioned within the party.
