Edun’s remarks underscore the glaring wealth gap prevailing in the country, where a significant portion of the populace struggles to access basic financial resources while a privileged minority enjoy substantial wealth.
During an illuminating interview with Channels TV, the minister lamented this inequality, emphasizing the urgent need to rectify the imbalance and foster greater financial inclusivity.
He highlighted the proactive measures undertaken by the administration of President Bola Tinubu to address this longstanding issue, particularly through comprehensive economic reforms aimed at redistributing wealth and empowering marginalized segments of society.
Edun elucidated on the significance of these reforms, characterizing them as crucial steps towards reclaiming government revenue and ensuring equitable distribution of resources among all citizens.
He emphasized, “There has been an effort to ensure that the people’s money is not in the hands of a few. When we talk about the last eight years before Mr. President came to power, there was this liquidity built up, but the funds were going to a few.”
The minister underscored the administration’s commitment to rectifying this disparity, noting that concerted efforts have been made to channel government revenue back into public funds, thereby fostering a more inclusive and equitable economic landscape.
As Nigeria grapples with the imperative of addressing financial inequality, Edun’s revelations serve as a clarion call for sustained efforts towards building a more just and prosperous society for all.
