NDP Announces Ada Fredrick As Its Presidential Candidate For The 2027 Election

According to Ireporter Online, the National Democratic Party (NDP) has officially announced Ada Fredrick as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.

The declaration was made on Monday during a press briefing held in Abuja, where the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Emeka Wachuku, expressed confidence in the party’s readiness to make a significant impact in the forthcoming elections.

Wachuku stated that Fredrick emerged as the party’s presidential flagbearer through a consensus affirmation following primaries conducted across all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory. He described her as a youthful, determined grassroots politician with strong leadership qualities and a commitment to what he termed national renewal.

He further explained that Fredrick previously founded a grassroots movement known as Ward2Ward before establishing the NDP in 2026 as a platform aimed at driving more effective governance in Nigeria. He also noted that she had earlier been elected as the party’s first national chairman during its inaugural National Executive Council congress, alongside members of the National Working Committee, with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission present to observe the process.

Speaking on the party’s ideology, Wachuku said the NDP is rooted in inclusion, youth engagement, and greater participation of women in leadership, stressing that the party recognises the importance of both genders and the energy of young people in nation-building.

He added that the party’s agenda would focus on key national priorities including infrastructure development, job creation, affordable healthcare, quality education, and improved welfare systems for the elderly and retirees. According to him, the NDP also plans to drive an economic shift toward local processing of raw materials in order to boost value-added exports.

Wachuku further stated that the party is committed to securing at least 25 per cent of votes in no fewer than two-thirds of Nigeria’s states through grassroots mobilisation, credibility, and disciplined political engagement.

In her acceptance speech, Ada Fredrick described her nomination as a major responsibility, emphasizing the urgent need for compassionate and inclusive leadership in Nigeria. She called for greater involvement of women in governance and national development, adding that her administration would prioritize hope, unity, and progress.

Fredrick also assured supporters that the party’s manifesto would soon be unveiled, promising that it would outline a clear vision for national transformation. She pledged commitment to the Nigerian people, urging women and youths to actively participate in the movement for a better country.

Also speaking, David Oroge, the NDP House of Representatives candidate for Abuja South, praised Fredrick’s leadership qualities, describing her as a capable grassroots mobilizer with a strong connection to the people. He expressed confidence in her ability to lead effectively and called on Nigerian youths to support her candidacy, describing her as a leader with integrity and purpose.
