The studio, located on Transformer Road in Amarata and operated by one of the deceased, Akpos Barakubo, saw the tragic incident after the victims fell asleep without turning off the generator. Six bodies were discovered initially, while a seventh victim later died in the hospital.

Security forces have secured the area and moved the bodies to the mortuary. Local residents blamed poor electricity supply and criticized the federal and state governments, as well as the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company, for the deaths, urging for improved power availability to prevent such tragedies.

Police response was awaited at the time of reporting.
