Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, could play a significant role in advising President Bola Tinubu about the true conditions in the Southeast.

Kanunta criticized Southeast politicians for allegedly working to keep President Tinubu uninformed about the region’s pressing issues.

Bianca Ojukwu has previously stated her commitment to doing whatever it takes to secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu. In an interview, Kanunta acknowledged her commendable intentions but noted that the actual outcome remains uncertain.

He remarked, “If she (Bianca Ojukwu) says she will do something, it’s hopeful until it materializes. Right now, many people can make promises, but until action is taken, we won’t know if it’s genuine. She is advocating for the president to understand the ground realities.”

Kanunta further claimed that those around President Tinubu might not be conveying the situation accurately, possibly influenced by financial incentives. He accused some influential figures in the presidency of obstructing access to the president to prevent him from learning the truth.

“There are barriers for those who wish to bring the president the complete picture. Southeast politicians are lobbying to ensure that Mr. President remains in the dark,” he asserted.

Kanunta emphasized that Bianca Ojukwu’s potential involvement could provide clarity regarding Kanu’s detention and pointed out that those promoting his continued imprisonment are contributing to insecurity in the Southeast rather than solving the problems.
