Speaking after a stakeholder engagement event in Abuja on Wednesday, General Ahmed revealed that the abduction took place during the night. In response, he issued a heartfelt appeal to state governments to prioritize the safety of Corps members by stipulating that their journeys conclude by 6 pm.
He further recommended that they seek refuge in NYSC lodges, military installations, or other designated secure locations overnight, and then continue their travels in the morning.
General Ahmed also disclosed ongoing efforts to provide palliatives to cushion the impact of the fuel subsidy removal on Corps members. He acknowledged that several states had already initiated their own relief measures to assist these young individuals during these trying times.
