In a social media post, Omokri highlighted the takeover of Haiti by gangs, emphasizing the emergence of gang leaders like Barbecue as de facto rulers amid a breakdown of law and order.
He lamented the failure of the Nigerian government, led by President Muhammadu Buhari, to address the root causes of banditry, citing Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s practice of paying ransom to bandits as a detrimental precedent.
Omokri criticized the administration’s passive response to bandit attacks during Buhari’s tenure, asserting that the media also failed to challenge such actions.
He warned against the normalization of banditry, citing instances where citizens in certain areas even pay taxes to bandits, illustrating the entrenchment of criminal activities.
Pointing to the audacious attack on Kuje prison by bandits under Buhari’s watch, Omokri underscored the urgent need for unity and collective action to combat banditry and prevent Nigeria from descending into a state akin to Haiti’s current predicament.
In conclusion, Omokri urged Nigerians to rally together to confront the scourge of banditry, emphasizing the importance of avoiding a scenario where gang leaders dictate terms in the nation’s capital, Abuja.
