government supports illegal mining activities.
Addressing a press conference in Birnin Kebbi, Aliyu-Wasagu described the reports as false, malicious, and aimed at tarnishing the administration’s image. He highlighted the state’s commitment to regulating the mining sector since the ministry’s establishment in 2023 under Governor Nasir Idris.
He emphasized that mining activities were suspended across the state in 2023 to address concerns about illegal operations and ensure proper corporate social responsibility, community agreements, and tax compliance. The government has since approved operations for seven mining companies, adhering to strict regulatory protocols.
Regarding a reported dispute in Libata, Ngaski LGA, he clarified that the Kebbi Ministry of Solid Minerals has no involvement in the conflict between Three Crown Company and El-Tahdam Exploration Limited, which arose due to overlapping licenses issued at the federal level.
Aliyu-Wasagu reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering transparency and development in the mining sector while urging critics to support the administration’s transformative agenda.
Commissioner for Information and Culture, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed-BK, called for unity, urging opposition parties to collaborate with the government to achieve a prosperous and inclusive Kebbi State.
