Senator Tinubu drew attention to the tragic reality that numerous women and newborns continue to lose their lives daily due to preventable complications associated with pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal phase.
“As we observe World Health Day 2025, under the theme ‘Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures,’ let us recognize that investing in maternal and newborn health is not only a moral obligation but also an essential foundation for sustainable development,” she stated.
She emphasized, “Every day, countless women and newborns succumb to preventable complications during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period. No mother should have to jeopardize her life to bring a child into the world, and no newborn should be deprived of a fair chance at survival.”
The First Lady also praised health workers across the country, acknowledging their dedication and sacrifices in the quest for a healthier society.
“On this World Health Day, let us all work together to cultivate an environment where mothers can safely give birth, and children can thrive to reach their fullest potential,” concluded Tinubu.
