BREAKING: Supreme Court Reacts To Reports On Death Of Justice Chima Centus Nweze

Justice Chima Centus Nweze, a highly respected Justice of Nigeria’s Supreme Court, has been reported to have passed away at the age of 64 on Sunday.

The Supreme Court officially confirmed the news of Justice Nweze’s demise on Monday.

Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), also confirmed the sad news in a brief communique, expressing shock and dismay at the passing of the esteemed jurist.

“Justice Nweze was an astute and erudite jurist whose numerous decisions have shaped, impacted, and developed our law and jurisprudence. He was a disciplined, hardworking, and courageous judicial officer,” the NBA President stated.

The statement further conveyed the NBA President’s condolences to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, the entire Nigerian Judiciary, the Government and People of Enugu State, as well as friends and family of Justice Nweze. Maikyau prayed for comfort and solace for his lordship’s family and loved ones.

Born on September 25, 1958, in Obollo, Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Justice Nweze had an exceptional contribution to the judiciary. His appointment to the Supreme Court in 2014 by then-President Goodluck Jonathan, following the recommendation of the National Judicial Council, marked a significant milestone in his distinguished legal career.
