PDP Crisis Boils Over: Explosive Showdown Looms As Damagum Allies, Anti-Wike Governors Face Off Today!The internal crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to escalate as the party’s 13 governors meet today to discuss recent developments. The crisis deepened last Friday with the emergence of a factional PDP National Chairman, Alhaji Yayari Mohammed.

Naija News reports that attempts to remove acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, an ally of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, have split the PDP governors. The Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Bala Mohammed, is leading six other governors pushing for Damagum’s ouster.

A source, speaking to The Punch anonymously, revealed that today’s meeting will focus on reconciling the factions led by Damagum and Mohammed. The governors are expected to review actions taken by both groups, discuss recent suspensions, and possibly vote on whether to uphold or reverse these decisions. The outcome of this meeting will determine which faction will preside over the October 24 National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, a key event in the party’s leadership structure.

Despite divisions among the governors, with Bala Mohammed’s group opposing Damagum and others, such as Makinde, Fintiri, and Mutfwang supporting him, the meeting aims to resolve leadership disputes and calm tensions.

A party insider also noted that the governors will work on a framework to balance the interests of both factions and ensure the October 24 NEC meeting goes ahead as planned.
