Turaki Of Ilorin: Why Kwara Residents Look Forward To Saliu Mustapha’s Coronation As Ilorin  Emirate Reschedules Date For Turbaning

Politicians, captains of industries, elder statesmen, traditional rulers, civil servants and a host of local and foreign dignitaries would be converging at Ilorin the Kwara State capital for the Turbaning of Mallam Saliu Mustapha as the fourth Turaki of Ilorin.

The Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Zulu-Gambari, CFR, has scheduled the most anticipated event for Friday, 22nd October 2021.

Basically, festivals in Nigeria are cultural, traditional and social events celebrated by various cultural, social, religious and traditional settings. These festivals are always eventful and entertaining with the rich cultural heritage of the people showcased through various displays.

Such festivals often teach the people the value of unity and family, it is an avenue where everyone comes together and bonds firmly. It is a celebration of life, a perfect day on which people forget about their sorrows and glorify life in the true sense of the word.

Ilorin, the headquarters of Kwara State would be at a standstill with the rich cultural heritage of the people paraded for the world to see and It’s sure going to be a thrill.

The traditional title of Turaki holds a special place in the socio-cultural system of the Ilorin Emirate, as well as other emirates across northern Nigeria.

Mallam Saliu Mustapha is a renowned philanthropist, educationist and the founder of the Saliu Mustapha Foundation, SMF.

The SMF has a long history of engaging its resources in activities promoting youth development and empowerment across Kwara and Nigeria. The  Foundation values both the present and future well-being of every youth and embarks on projects aimed at empowering the youths.

In Kwara State, Mallam Saliu Mustapha has extended his hands of giving to thousands of citizens which cut across the aged, widows, youth and students in the 16 Local Government Areas of the State. No doubt Kwara residents would be looking forward to a festival in honour of one of their most exceptional son’s.

The turbaning of the Turaki of Ilorin is of immense historical significance to the people of Kwara and it is seen as a symbol of National Unity.
