Adeboye Issues Stern Warning: RCCG Ministers Must Avoid These 3 Major Sins
Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has issued a firm warning to the church’s ministers, urging them to steer clear of three major sins that could lead to their immediate expulsion. During the final day of the Ministers’ Conference, Adeboye emphasized the importance of maintaining integrity and avoiding actions that could tarnish the reputation of the church.
1. Beware of Hypocrisy: The Costly Sin
Adeboye condemned the actions of some pastors who, under the guise of church expansion, misuse church funds for personal gain. He highlighted instances where multiple pastors from different provinces or regions collaborate to plant churches abroad, only to exploit the opportunity for lavish trips funded by the church. Adeboye sternly warned that this behavior, which he labeled as hypocrisy, would no longer be tolerated. He cautioned that if ministers continue in such ways, they would face divine punishment.
2. Moderation in Marriage Celebrations
The RCCG leader also criticized the trend of extravagant marriage celebrations, calling them wasteful and unnecessary. He urged couples to adopt a more modest approach, emphasizing that the funds spent on such elaborate events could be better utilized for the future well-being of their children. Adeboye shared an example of a wealthy family that opted for a simple wedding in his office, which he commended as a model of wisdom and restraint. He also advised against excessive make-up and decorations, encouraging brides to embrace their natural beauty as God created them.
3. Zero Tolerance for Adultery and Fornication
Finally, Adeboye made it clear that adultery and fornication are grave sins that will not be tolerated within the RCCG. He warned ministers engaging in such behavior to come forward and confess, or face severe consequences if discovered. According to Adeboye, any minister found guilty of adultery will be immediately expelled from the church, and those who voluntarily confess will be suspended for one year.
Expansion of RCCG’s Administrative Structure
In addition to these warnings, Adeboye announced the creation of 40 new provinces and 8 regions within the RCCG to enhance its administrative reach across Nigeria. This expansion brings the total number of provinces to 446 and regions to 59, marking a significant milestone in the church’s growth.
Adeboye’s address serves as a powerful reminder to RCCG ministers of the high moral standards expected of them, and the serious consequences of deviating from these principles. The message is clear: integrity, moderation, and purity are non-negotiable in the service of God and the church.
