FG Reveals Nigerian Military’s Successes In February: 974 Terrorists Killed, 1,573 Weapons Recovered

According to Idiris, the Armed Forces recorded remarkable achievements, including the neutralization of 974 terrorists, the apprehension of 621 suspects, the rescue of 466 hostages, and the recovery of 1,573 weapons.

Addressing journalists, social media influencers, and others during a Ramadan Iftar event in Kano State, Idiris emphasized the military’s continuous efforts in ensuring the safety of the nation. He assured the public that security operatives are actively engaging bandits, terrorists, kidnappers, and other criminal elements, urging for patience as more positive outcomes unfold.

Idris highlighted the military’s acquisition of new weapons and equipment to bolster the fight against insurgency and banditry. He mentioned the induction of four new aircraft by the Nigerian Air Force as part of the ongoing efforts to enhance operational capabilities.

Furthermore, the Minister outlined various kinetic approaches employed by the government in combating terrorism and banditry, including the establishment of the 50 Billion Naira Pulako Initiative aimed at addressing security challenges in seven frontline states.

He also emphasized progress in tackling oil theft, reducing farmer-herder clashes, and containing security threats in specific regions like Niger State. Despite occasional isolated attacks, Idiris emphasized the overall progress made in ensuring community safety.

The Minister concluded by acknowledging the continued efforts of security forces and the collaborative endeavors of various stakeholders in maintaining security across the country.
