following the mysterious disappearance of ballot papers during the Plateau State rerun election held on Saturday.

The announcement came from Isah Idakwo, the state head of the Department of Electoral Operations, representing the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC). To facilitate a thorough investigation into the missing House of Representatives ballot papers in 16 polling units, the REC directed Ogboji to step aside from his position.

Idakwo stated, “You are directed to step aside from office to enable the commission to carry out a proper investigation into the circumstances that led to the missing House of Representatives ballot papers in 16 polling units in your local government area.”

Furthermore, the suspended officer was instructed to hand over responsibilities to Mr. Elekwa Onyemauche, the local government supervisor, along with the two registration area supervisors of Tudun Wada Kabong and Naraguta B, who will coordinate and complete the remaining electoral processes.

This development follows the discovery of missing vote papers, prompting INEC to postpone elections in the affected 16 polling units within the Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency. The rescheduled poll is set to take place on Sunday, February 4, as communicated by the state INEC REC, Dr. Oliver Agundu.
