Kidnappers Arrested After Sleeping Off Following Abduction Of Pastor’s Wife And Others In Ondo

The suspects reportedly succumbed to drowsiness induced by hard drugs they had consumed.

Identified as Garuba Mumuni (27), Yusuf Tale (21), Kabiru Muhammed (16), Shaibu Umar, and Adamu Mohammed (22), the suspects were taken into custody by officers from the Ofosu Division following identification by the victims.

According to police reports, the incident occurred when the pastor’s wife and a church member were kidnapped during a service, while a third victim was abducted while gathering snails on a farm. Remarkably, the captives managed to escape on separate occasions after the kidnappers fell asleep due to the effects of the drugs they had ingested.

Utilizing intelligence, law enforcement personnel arrested five of the six kidnappers on May 1, 2024. The victims positively identified them as members of the gang responsible for their abduction.

Commissioner of Police Abayomi Oladipo affirmed that the suspects would face legal proceedings in due course.
