Kidnappers Raid Church In Ogun, Abduct Congregants

Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly attacked a Celestial Church in Ogun State, abducting two members identified as Oladapo Seyifunmi and Oluboboye Abiola. According to SP Odutola, the incident took place on Thursday at the church situated near Oriyarin village, Mowe, within the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State. The perpetrators allegedly fled through a dense forest located behind the church.

In the statement issued by SP Odutola, it reads, “Suspected kidnapping: Report at my disposal reveals that on 28/3/2024, unidentified gunmen invaded a Celestial Church around Oriyarin village Mowe and abducted one Oladapo Seyifunmi and Oluboboye Abiola and escaped through the thick forest behind the church.”

The Commissioner of Police, Alamutu Abiodun, has been briefed about the incident, and he has instructed the immediate mobilization of security personnel to pursue the culprits.

In a related development, the Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a suspect in connection with the abduction and murder of a 12-year-old boy, Christopher Bala Mohammed, who is the son of a police officer. The victim was reportedly abducted on March 21, 2024, while running an errand in Magama town, Gumau Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect, identified as Rabi’u Ibrahim, was captured following diligent investigation by the police. He reportedly confessed to the crime during preliminary interrogation.

The abduction and subsequent murder of Christopher Bala Mohammed have sparked concerns over the safety of residents, particularly children, in the area. Law enforcement agencies continue to intensify efforts to apprehend criminals and ensure the security of lives and property in Bauchi State and beyond.
