Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information, stated on Monday that the eliminated terrorists were linked to the ambush on troops at Kwanan Mutuwa on January 27, 2024, and several other attacks on innocent civilians in Birnin Gwari. The precision strike targeted a convoy of 15 motorcycles, each carrying at least two armed terrorists, resulting in the successful neutralization of the threat.

The Birnin Gwari area has been grappling with insecurity, with bandits causing havoc by killing and abducting residents. The military’s proactive response aims to rid the North-West and North Central regions of Nigeria of the menace of terrorism and kidnapping.

In a parallel development, security operatives in Katsina successfully rescued 35 kidnap victims from the Dumburu forest. The victims, abducted from Tashar Nagulle and Nahuta communities in the Batsari Local Government Area, were brought to the Government House in Katsina. Governor Dikko Radda congratulated and supported each victim with N100,000 to aid their reintegration into society.

The joint efforts of security operatives led to a fierce gun battle with the bandits, resulting in the destruction of their camps, the death of many bandits, and the recovery of various weapons. The successful military operations in both Kaduna and Katsina showcase a commitment to combating terrorism and ensuring the safety of citizens in the region.
