New-Police Commissioner Assumes-Office In Kano As CP Gumel Moves-Up To AIG (Details)

The newly appointed Kano State Police Commissioner, Salman Dogo Garba, officially took charge on Monday, June 24, following the promotion of CP Ussain Gumel to Assistant Inspector of Police (AIG). The handover and farewell ceremony took place at the Police Officers’ Mess, Pompai.

Reflecting on his tenure from May 2, 2023, to June 24, Gumel highlighted challenges such as managing the 2023 state governorship election and addressing security issues surrounding the Kano State Emirate Council. He emphasized that despite facing security threats like armed robbery and kidnapping, the state command remained committed to maintaining peace and order.

As he moved on to his new assignment, AIG Gumel expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, for his trust and confidence. He also thanked his colleagues in Kano State for their dedication and hard work during his tenure.
