President Tinubu Giving Out N20,000 Cash Grant To Students?
A Facebook post asserts that Nigerian President Bola Tinubu is distributing a N20,000 (approximately US$25) cash grant exclusively to Nigerian students.
The post includes a link to a website where students can purportedly apply.

However, we sought to verify whether the president is indeed providing cash grants to students.
After assuming office in May 2023, Tinubu enacted several bills into law, including one facilitating interest-free loans for students hailing from disadvantaged backgrounds.
As reported by the Nigerian newspaper, the Premium Times, individuals seeking to pursue higher education can submit their loan applications through their respective banks. The application should encompass a cover letter endorsed by the head of the educational institution and a copy of the student’s admission letter.
Upon following the link provided in the Facebook post, we were prompted to provide our name, email address, phone number, and specify the purpose for which the money would be utilized. Upon completion, we were congratulated and informed of our eligibility for the cash grant.
Subsequently, we were directed to share the website with either five groups or 11 friends on WhatsApp.
It’s crucial to recognize that this is a clear instance of engagement bait, a tactic that encourages social media users to interact by liking, commenting, or sharing, thereby expanding the post’s visibility. However, in cases like this, the promised funds are never delivered, indicating a potential scam.
Moreover, this scheme may serve as a means for scammers to acquire the user’s personal information, which could be exploited for fraudulent activities.
