Rivers State Again – Wife Pours Acid On Husband’s Face Over N15,000

Police operatives from the Rivers State Police Command apprehended a mother of two who is accused of dousing her husband with acid following a dispute over the distribution of a N15,000 sum allocated to the family in Nchia community, Eleme Local Government Area.

This distressing incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, October 14.

The woman, originally from Akwa-Ibom but married into the Nchia community, was intercepted in her attempt to flee by the Nchia Security Council (a community vigilante group) led by Abel Oluka, along with other local youths from Agbonchia community.

According to online reports, the woman and her husband had a disagreement over the husband’s alleged confiscation of the N15,000 portion designated for the family as a host community to multinational corporations.

The woman claimed that her husband refused to provide her and their two children with their rightful share of the money.

In a fit of anger, the mother of two girls poured acid onto her husband’s face, seized his Automated Teller Machine (ATM), and attempted to escape.

After dousing her husband’s face with acid, the woman fled with his ATM card. Despite his pain and impaired vision, the husband raised an alarm, alerting the Community Vigilante.

Realizing she was being pursued, she sought refuge back in her house and concealed herself within the ceiling. She was subsequently apprehended and restrained.

As of the time of this report, she has been turned over to the Eleme Police Station in Eleme local government area for further investigations. Meanwhile, the husband has been urgently transported to an undisclosed hospital for medical treatment.

This incident comes shortly after another distressing event where a wife and mother of one, Mrs. Favour Nwala Nwankwo, scalded her husband with hot vegetable oil due to marital issues in Igwurita, Ikwerre local area of Rivers State.
