Sowore lamented that Nigerian youths display a passive attitude towards politics, merely seeking to align themselves with established politicians.
During an appearance on Tuesday’s edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today from New Jersey in the United States (USA), Sowore criticized the trend, emphasizing the need for Nigerian youths to be more proactive in politics, akin to the developments witnessed in Senegal.
He remarked, “Our young people are concerned with doing what I call tag-along. They are more interested in becoming special assistants to governors or senators.”
Sowore emphasized the importance of youthful leadership, urging young Nigerians to aspire for leadership roles and be visionary in their pursuits.
He stated, “Youthfulness is also important in the sense that you need leaders that are alert and capable and responsive and do not have to spend half of the time in the hospital.”
The swearing-in of Faye, which took place in Dakar and was attended by several African leaders, underscores the potential for dynamic leadership among young Africans, a prospect Sowore believes Nigerian youths should actively pursue.
