*Value-Driven Education: Sen. Monday Okpebholo’s Revolutionary Blueprint*

It has been widely agreed by many scholars that “Education is the transmission of life by the living to the living.” The life and beauty in education can be likened to the sprouting of a blossoming rose. This is what Sen. Monday Okpebholo’s Value-Driven Education represents in his Five Point Agenda, as he vies for the office of the Chief Executive in Edo State.
As a man with foresight, he hopes to deliver his blueprint for value-driven education by a massive improvement in school infrastructure, and digital technology across the State. He will prioritize the employment of more teachers, improve their welfare, and also, vocational training. Akpakomiza will bring back bursary awards and scholarship programs for indigent and bright students/pupils. He will reinvent constant monitoring of schools and colleges to ensure compliance with educational ethics and standards.
For the past seven years, Edo State’s education has witnessed innovations and reforms that were implemented on paper, adding no value to the system. A tour of schools in the state especially at the grassroots reveals a state of infrastructural decay characterized by broken walls, roofless school buildings, and heaps of debris around several school premises that lacked parameter fencing. Education in Edo has become moribund leaving a lot to be desired.
To change this narrative in the next four years, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, the one who bears “Akpakomiza” as a fond sobriquet, understanding that no meaningful impartation of knowledge can be done in an unconducive learning environment, has designed a comprehensive plan to construct new primary and secondary schools and renovate dilapidated school infrastructures across the State.
Sen. Monday Okpebholo, a veteran in the business of information and Communication technology will introduce a tech-based educational system in Edo State engineered with more innovations that will promote electronic learning. The Edo best project of the outgoing administration which has become Edo Worst is a pandora’s box of failure. With its several limitations to teachers and students, greed and the lack of foresight on the part of the government, fluttering networks, and poorly programmed lessons, the Edo best project embodies all the trappings of a huge failure.
Again, to achieve Value-Driven Education, Sen. Monday Okpebholo has prioritized teachers’ welfare in his agenda. This is not the type that involves timely payment of salaries alone. It is an agenda that will give teachers a breath of fresh air away from the present strangulating workplace. Akpakomiza’s plan for a value-driven education is set to right these wrongs and liberate Edo State teachers ensuring that they reap their rewards here on Earth.
The place of Education in human capacity development cannot be overemphasized. The essence of Sen. Monday Okpebholo’s education agenda is to give life to Edo State, its people, and its learning systems. This is with the understanding that the quality of a people in a given environment is determined by the quality of its educational system.
