VIDEO: Relief As Rescued Woro Kidnap Victims Return To Ilorin After Months In Captivity

The rescued victims reportedly arrived late on Thursday night and were received at the Nigerian Army’s 2 Division, Sobi Barracks, before being moved to an undisclosed location for further care and processing.

Their arrival followed an earlier confirmation of their rescue, a development that was also acknowledged by President Bola Tinubu.

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq confirmed that the freed victims had undergone medical treatment at a health facility and would officially be received by the state government once doctors certify them medically fit.

The victims were among those kidnapped during the February 3, 2026, attack on Woro and neighbouring Nuku communities, where armed insurgents launched a coordinated assault that left several residents dead and many others missing.

Reports indicated that approximately 176 people, mostly women and children, were abducted during the raid, which survivors described as a prolonged and violent invasion.

Eyewitness accounts revealed that more than 50 heavily armed attackers stormed Woro community at about 5 p.m., opening fire on residents, setting homes, shops and public buildings ablaze, and leaving widespread destruction in their wake.

The safe return of the victims marks a significant breakthrough in efforts to rescue those abducted during one of the deadliest attacks recorded in the affected communities.
