In related news, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has revealed that, as of now, it is unable to purchase oil directly from the Dangote Refinery.

In a recent interview, IPMAN Chairman Abubakar Maigandi confirmed that the association is still required to source oil from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) while it works to establish direct oil lifting from the Dangote Refinery.

The association has refuted earlier claims that it accused Dangote of blocking its members from accessing oil directly from the facility.

Reports have indicated that the NNPCL plans to end its exclusive offtake agreement with the Dangote Refinery, allowing other marketers to purchase products directly. However, Maigandi clarified to BBC Hausa that the NNPCL still holds the exclusive right to purchase oil products from Dangote, with IPMAN members operating in a retail capacity.

He emphasized that the union is actively collaborating with Dangote Refinery’s leadership and is optimistic about the negotiations.

“As I speak, there is no official confirmation that the NNPCL has stopped being the middleman for purchasing oil from the refinery.

“Just today, the NNPCL asked us to send our tankers to the refinery for oil lifting, and we complied. They also submitted our waybills to the refinery.

“At this moment, we cannot buy oil directly from Dangote; we must purchase it from NNPCL,” Maigandi explained.
