Mrs. Olubunmi Odesanya, the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the party, emphasized the disproportionate and “astronomical” surge in tariff rates, labeling it as unjustifiable, particularly in light of the prevailing hardships experienced by a significant portion of Nigerians.

In an interview with NAN in Lagos, Odesanya asserted that if any tariff adjustments were deemed necessary, they should not exceed a 25 percent increment.

“Every day, Nigerians are grappling with the repercussions. This situation is untenable. A considerable portion of Nigerians is enduring undue hardship,” Odesanya expressed.

She stressed the imperative for the government to acknowledge the populace’s plight, emphasizing that the welfare of the citizens should be paramount in governance.

Odesanya urged the federal government to explore alternatives such as reducing governance expenditure rather than opting for subsidy removal, as a means to conserve resources.
