El-Rufai Absent As Kaduna APC Executive Passes-Vote Of Confidence On Uba-Sani (Details)

Former Governor Nasir el-Rufai was notably absent from the latest executive committee meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, where a vote of confidence was passed on the current Governor, Uba Sani, on Saturday.

The executive committee, serving as the highest decision-making body of the APC in Kaduna, gathered to deliberate on various state matters and commend Governor Sani for his administration’s initiatives.

Specifically, the committee lauded Governor Sani for his impactful programs aimed at rural transformation and empowerment of youth and women, signaling robust party support for his leadership.

Prominent figures present at the meeting included Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives; Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, former governor of Kaduna; Datti Babawo, Vice-Chair of APC in the North-West; and Yusuf Dahiru Liman, Speaker of the Kaduna House of Assembly.

The absence of Nasir el-Rufai from the meeting comes amid reported strains in his relationship with Governor Uba Sani.

Earlier in March, Governor Sani publicly criticized the financial challenges inherited from el-Rufai’s administration, citing a substantial debt burden and numerous contractual liabilities that have strained the state’s finances and affected its monthly allocations.

Adding to the tensions, an ad hoc committee of the Kaduna House of Assembly recently recommended an inquiry into el-Rufai’s administration over alleged mismanagement of N423 billion.

In response, el-Rufai has taken legal action against the state assembly, disputing the allegations and defending the financial practices of his administration.

The developments highlight ongoing political dynamics within Kaduna State’s APC, with implications for future governance and party cohesion in the state.
