Emphasizing his focus on discussing the economy and its relationship with leadership without delving into political party narratives, Moghalu highlighted the consistent failure of all governments in delivering adequate electricity and achieving successful economic diversification.

Despite acknowledging the presence of corruption, which has worsened over time, Moghalu maintained that certain periods exhibited better economic performance within the overall trajectory of decline.

This statement follows heavy criticism aimed at Moghalu for suggesting that the nation’s economy was last functional during the 16 years of the Peoples Democratic Party-led government.

In response, presidential aide Segun Ajayi accused Moghalu of convincing himself that his time in government represented a ‘golden era of competence’ in managing Nigeria’s economy.

Ajayi argued that the PDP’s period in power did not witness progress in infrastructural development that directly impacted the quality of life.
