What British Deputy High Commissioner Told UK Firms Concerning South-East
The British Deputy High Commissioner in Lagos, Mr. Jonny Baxter, has encouraged companies in the United Kingdom to consider investing in southeastern Nigeria. Speaking at the inaugural Enugu State Diaspora and Investment Roundtable, Baxter emphasized the UK’s interest in promoting UK-based companies’ investments in the region.
He stressed the importance of creating a more favorable business environment and expressed the UK’s commitment to collaborating with the Enugu state government to achieve this goal.

Baxter also highlighted the UK’s Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS), which aims to utilize trade to support Nigeria, including Enugu State, in its pursuit of private sector-led economic transformation.
He mentioned that products such as cashew and plantain, commonly cultivated in Enugu and other southeastern states, could find export opportunities in the UK based on market demand in both Nigeria and the UK.
The stakeholder roundtable serves as a platform for high-level discussions focused on advancing viable investments, enhancing trade, and creating additional economic prospects in Enugu State.
