Governor Sim Fubara and his predecessor have engaged in verbal sparring since last week, triggered by the All Progressives Congress (APC) directive for 27 lawmakers loyal to Wike to initiate impeachment proceedings against the Governor.
Naija News reports a wave of resignations on Wednesday, including from some of the nine commissioners who previously stepped down during the state’s political turmoil before President Bola Tinubu intervened last year.
Their exits occurred within 24 hours of Fubara’s accusations against Wike, severing ties with his political mentor and alleging a legacy of substantial debt.
Below is the roster of commissioners who have tendered their resignations thus far:
1. Commissioner for Social Welfare, Inime Aguma
2. Commissioner for Transport, Jacobson Nbina
3. Commissioner for Education, Professor Prince Chinedu Mmom
4. Commissioner for Housing, Gift Worlu
5. Commissioner for Environment, Austen Ben-Chioma
The five commissioners submitted their resignations individually via letters addressed to the Governor through the Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo. While Mmom cited a toxic work environment as his reason for departure, Ben-Chioma attributed his resignation to the state’s political crisis.
