Rainstorm Displaces Over 1,000 Residents In Kogi Community

In response to the calamity, Oba Jacob Meduten, the Eleta Oluyara of Iyara, appealed for assistance from the government, affluent individuals, and corporate entities to alleviate the suffering of the victims.

Additionally, the Kogi State Government has issued a precautionary advisory to its citizens, urging them to take preventive measures as the rainy season approaches. Mouktar Atimah, the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), confirmed the incident and emphasized the importance of preparedness.

Atimah stressed the need for residents to relocate from low-lying areas to higher ground and cautioned against improper roofing of houses, which could make them vulnerable to damage during storms. Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration has prioritized the welfare of Kogi residents, aiming to mitigate their hardships in the face of natural disasters.
