Akpabio Leads Charge: Senators Unite To Address Rivers State Political Unrest

following the Supreme Court’s decision to suspend Rivers State’s fund allocations until a legitimate House of Assembly, led by Martin Amaewhule, is established. Subsequently, the Assembly issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Governor Siminalayi Fubara to present the 2025 budget, which has since expired. They also called for the dismissal of all commissioners and political appointees, urging the submission of new commissioner-nominees for screening.

Akpabio also addressed critics of the Senate’s recent suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, urging the public to seek facts before commenting on parliamentary decisions.

He highlighted the significance of having a Senate President from the Niger Delta after 46 years, underscoring the region’s crucial role in Nigeria’s economy.

Akpabio assured that internal mechanisms are in place to resolve ongoing issues and emphasized the Senate’s dedication to maintaining discipline and decorum.
