The Head of National Office, West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Nigeria, Dr. Amos Josiah, announced this feat and highlighted the measures in place to ensure a successful examination.

The CB-WASSCE, scheduled from Wednesday, January 31, to Saturday, February 17, 2024, marks a historic shift towards computer-based assessments. Dr. Josiah emphasized that results would be released 45 days after the conclusion of the examination.

In a statement, Dr. Josiah explained the hybrid mode of the examination, where objective or multiple-choice questions are presented on-screen, and candidates respond digitally. Essay and practical questions will also be on-screen, but candidates will provide their responses using answer booklets.

The innovative approach reflects WAEC Nigeria’s commitment to being a world-class examining body and its core value of innovation. The move towards computer-based assessments serves as a viable alternative to traditional pen-and-paper examinations, showcasing the potentials of embracing technology in assessments.
