This directive, aimed at addressing the challenges faced by local pharmaceutical companies due to the inundation of substandard foreign products, underscores the government’s commitment to revitalizing the domestic medical supply chain. NAFDAC, in line with this directive, has been instructed to halt the issuance of licenses for the importation of foreign-made needles and syringes. Dr. Alausa emphasized the imperative of halting this trend, citing President’s directive to take immediate corrective measures.

“We must put an end to this situation,” remarked Dr. Alausa. “NAFDAC’s mandate now includes ceasing the issuance of licenses for the importation of foreign-manufactured needles and syringes, along with delisting companies involved in such imports.”
