APC National Chair Race: Yahaya Bello’s Posters Blanket Abuja Amidst Growing Bid To Unseat Ganduje
In a surprising turn of events, the former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has become the focus of a burgeoning campaign to secure the position of the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)…..CONTINUE READING
Just 48 hours after leaving office, posters featuring Bello flooded the streets of Abuja, particularly around key locations like the Federal Secretariat and the APC national secretariat.
The vibrant posters showcase Bello’s image alongside the caption “APC Next Level. Alhaji Yahaya Bello as APC National Chairman. Leading the Change, Building a Stronger APC.” This move has ignited speculation and discussions within political circles, raising questions about the party’s internal dynamics and the motivations behind this early push.
Party insiders suggest that the orchestrated move to unseat the current chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, is a carefully devised strategy involving key stakeholders both within and outside the APC. The plot appears to be a calculated effort by elements from the North Central zone to reclaim the national chairman’s office, which shifted to the North West with Ganduje’s assumption of the position.
Sources within the party, speaking anonymously, hinted that Yahaya Bello’s candidacy aims to bring the chairmanship seat back to the North Central region. The belief is that he enjoys substantial backing from influential figures within the party who are keen on reshaping the party’s leadership structure.
Abdullahi Umar Ganduje presently holds the position of national chairman, having been elected at the August 3, 2023, National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting following the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu. As the APC gears up for potential leadership changes, Bello’s unexpected emergence as a frontrunner adds a layer of intrigue to the political landscape, leaving party members and observers eager to witness how this unfolding drama will shape the future of the APC.
