The jubilant crowd, comprised of sons and daughters of Ebiraland, showcased their appreciation with loud cheers, ceremonial attire, masquerades, drums, and trumpets. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as different clans participated in welcoming Bello, who recently handed over to his successor, Governor Usman Ododo.
The scenes were vibrant and festive as residents of Lokoja, the state capital, gathered along the highway, bidding farewell to the former Governor. The convoy’s arrival at the entrance of Okene triggered a wave of enthusiasm, and the town erupted in jubilation as Bello’s kinsmen danced along the streets.
Bello, on his visit, made stops at his maternal ancestral home, where special prayers were offered in memory of his departed mother. The journey also led to the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, where he received a rousing welcome alongside Governor Usman Ododo. The mammoth crowd witnessed at the palace was unprecedented, highlighting the significance of the occasion.
Addressing his supporters, Bello expressed profound gratitude and attributed the success of his government to the Almighty. He acknowledged the impacts made on the lives of Kogites and emphasized the need for continued support for Governor Usman Ododo’s administration.
Bello stated, “I am filled with joy over this overwhelming show of gratitude, happiness, and love. It further attests to the impacts our government has made in the lives of Kogites. I humbly return all thanks and praises to the Almighty God.”
